
In a stakeholders meeting of Uyo Senatorial District APC Elders Forum held at Senator Bassey Albert’s country home in Ididep Usuk, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State on June 1, 2025, stakeholders unanimously expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCON and Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of the Nigerian Senate.
In the opening address delivered by the Chairman of the Forum, Prof. Chris Ekong expressed gratitude to Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert Akpan, CON for hosting the enlarged meeting of Uyo Senatorial District Elders.
He thereafter praised the Senator for his unwavering commitment to repositioning the Uyo Senatorial District while acknowledging his diverse contributions to propelling the party to greater accomplishments.
Prof. Ekong stated, “I would like to extend our gratitude to Senator Albert on behalf of this forum for his unwavering dedication to our party, as exemplified by his decision to host this pivotal meeting, particularly at a time when the APC in Uyo Senatorial District requires a credible leadership structure to foster unity and propel it towards greatness.”
Mr. Umoh Ekop, Chairman of the Ibiono Ibom APC Chapter, delivered a welcome address at the epoch meeting, expressing appreciation to stakeholders for their impressive attendance. He subsequently pledged to work assiduously to promote the party’s growth, extending an invitation to prospective members to join, emphasizing the party’s openness to accommodating new members.
Senator Bassey Albert, popularly referred to as OBA by friends and supporters, praised the forum’s leadership for its initiative to foster unity, peace, and dedication to APC principles. He reiterated his resolve to support the party’s leadership at all levels to guarantee victory in forthcoming elections.
OBA stated, “I would like to express my gratitude to the leadership of this forum for conceiving the idea of organizing these meetings across all nine local government areas within our senatorial district. This initiative is indeed a step in the right direction, and I am confident that these meetings will ultimately yield the necessary leadership and guidance.”
The two-term Senator further emphasized that he does not intend to change the existing leadership structure of the party, but instead to contribute his quota to the party’s growth and development at the local government, state, and national levels.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Ita Udosen, Secretary, of APC South-South Zone, praised the stakeholders for uniting to revitalize the party, which was evident in the large turnout of party faithful and the attendance of key party stalwarts.
He further counseled the party’s leadership structure in the senatorial district to forge a strong partnership with the forum, thereby enhancing the party’s ability to mobilize support, drive growth, and ultimately secure electoral wins and deliver democratic dividends.
During the vote of thanks, Barr. Edet Ikotidem thanked stakeholders for the massive turnout at the Ibiono Ibom LGA meeting and acknowledged Senator Albert’s efforts in hosting the gathering. He then offered a prayer for divine protection as attendees returned home.
